Welcome back after the Easter holidays, I hope you all had a lovely break. It’s hard to believe that this is the final term in school this academic year, time has really flown!

Attendance

Well done to Year 2 who had the best overall attendance last term…

Well Done to Year 4 who are the winners this week!

Parents Evenings
We will be holding our second Parent’s Evenings on Monday 30th April, Tuesday 1st May and Wednesday 2nd May. This time the meetings will take place in the hall and the appointments will be sent out shortly. The meeting will give you a chance to talk to the teacher about your child and we will also be updating contact information and asking for email addresses in order to send newsletters before the end of the term.

Summer Weather
We have had some lovely weather this week and it makes such a change from all the rain. Can you please make sure your child wears sensible footwear to school even in the hot weather? At playtimes the children love to run and they need shoes that let them do that. Flip flops are not suitable for school. We will also be sending letters home about sun cream and please send a hat in with your child’s name written inside that they can wear outside during playtimes.

National Tests

The Welsh Government’s national test week begins on WEDNESDAY 2ND MAY to WEDNESDAY 9th MAY. During this period, pupils in Y2 to Y6 will sit a national reading test and two numeracy (maths) tests. One numeracy test will focus on procedural skills and the other will focus on reasoning skills (applying maths to different situations). Please make sure your children are in school on time during the testing week.

Choir
Our Choir have been invited to sing in two performances in the summer term. The first is on Wednesday 6th June in the Grand Theatre Swansea and the second is on Friday 6th July in the Grand Hall at Swansea University Bay Campus.

EMAU Consultation
The Local Authority has begun a consultation about the way they deliver the support to the pupils who speak English as a second language. There is a parents meeting about the proposed changes which will take place in Bishop Gore School on 23rd April between 4.30pm to 6.30pm.
